Brainerd Area Snowmobile Trails
Brainerd Area Snowmobile Trails

The Brainerd Lakes area has over 1,200 miles of groomed snowmobile trails, making it the perfect vacation destination for snowmobilers. The network of snowmobile trails radiates in every direction from Brainerd, making the Brainerd Lakes Area one of the upper Midwest’s premier snowmobiling destinations.

Ride the 100 mile Paul Bunyan Trail to Bemidji. The 16 connecting communities will keep you close to food, lodging, and gas so that you can set out for a snowmobile trip at ease. The Paul Bunyan Snowmobile Trails are groomed by the Lakes Area Snowmobile Clubs. Take a virtual tour of the trail created by the DNR. The famous Gull Lake Lighted Trail will guide you on your night excursions across Gull Lake giving you access to many of the eating and drinking establishments on the lake.

Cragun’s Resort and Hotel is located in the heart of snowmobile country. The Gull Lake Lighted Trail runs past Cragun’s Resort and is connected to a thousand miles of groomed snowmobile trails in the Brainerd Lakes area. Maps are available at the Marina and the Snowmobile Center.

If you don’t have your own sled, Cragun’s Resort offers snowmobile rental services. Choose one of our Polaris snowmobiles with clean and efficient Polaris engines. We offer both single rider and 2-up snowmobiles for rent. We emphasize safety by requiring viewing of a video and review safe operation and familiarity of the sled to insure a comfortable, safe ride. We also review safe snowmobile trails on the maps that we provide.

Any Minnesota resident born after December 31, 1976, is required by law to hold snowmobile certification. To obtain more information about certification, please click here. For information on the Department of Natural Resources Snowmobile Safety Laws, Rules and Regulations, please click here.

Cragun’s Resort also has a large selection of rental winter clothing, helmets and boots to keep you warm and comfortable. We have everything you need for snowmobiling fun!

If you’re interested in old sleds, be sure to plan a January weekend in the lakes area to attend the Annual Antique Snowmobile Rendezvous in Pequot Lakes. And, in early February, the Long Lake Vintage Snowmobile Association event will once again be held at Cragun’s Resort. This weekend includes snowmobile races on the Gull Lake with the vintage snowmobiles.

Whether you are new to the sport of snowmobiling or a veteran rider, Cragun’s Resort and the Brainerd Lakes Area offer the equipment and trails you need for a perfect snowmobile getaway.
