1. So Much To Do

June of 2013 we had a family get together at Cragun’s. We had a great time when we rented a pontoon and the cousins tubed and swam in the lake. We loved the indoor pool, outdoor pool, beach, campfire and indoor gym and workout room. There’s always so much to do at Cragun’s!

2. Playing Possum & More

Went down to the beach to compete in a friendly competition of family survivor. One of the games involved placing our foreheads on a pole looking down on the ground while walking as fast as we could in a circle. When done with the circles we had to run as fast as we could through an obstacle course. Our son went first. Easy, no problem for him. I went second. Very crooked run away from the obstacle course. My husband went third. After taking about two steps, down he went on the ground. Lying on his back with his legs and arms reaching up towards the sky and there he stayed for a good few minutes. We like to refer to it as his “playing possum”. Everyone had a really good laugh. The best part is we still won the Survivor contest!

Another favorite memory is of a mother duck. We were walking along the path when the three of us spotted the fattest duck we have ever seen. We stopped to admire the fine duck when it decided to move. It stood up and out from underneath it came 1/2 dozen or so brand new baby ducklings. What a wonderful surprise.

3. Fun At Any Age

This is all about Cragun’s… the best place to get away for all ages. There is something for everyone young and old. Swimming, fishing, walks, bike rides, golf, sun tanning, boat rides, camp fires, roasting marshmallows, eating in the dining room, buffet suppers with Dutch–he visits with all the families–activities for the kids, movies on the beach and the fun car ride to Cragun’s. Our family has been going for over 50 years now. My parents went and started taking us when we were little. And now my two brothers and I are married and to this day we all go including the grandchildren who love it and talks about it all through the winter. When are we going again? So if you want to get away, where do you go? That’s right you guessed it. My father’s favorite place and mine: CRAGUN’S! Where you’ll have fun at any age.

4. Joke Time

I’m now 26, but fond memories of Cragun’s go back to when I was about 7 or 8 years old. One such memory, (which still makes me laugh), is when my sister, cousins and I attended Camp Cragun’s. One evening, the Camp activity included all of the kids getting on stage and telling a joke of their choice to a room full of people (mostly our parents and grandparents). My cousin Ashley, an adorably angelic-looking 4 year old, liked to push the limits, and, admittedly egged by her older cousins (my sister and me), told a joke that went like this: “Why did the chicken cross the road? …Because he had to fart.” The room was silent. My uncle, mortified at the time, had to stand up and apologize for this gaffe. We still laugh about it at almost every Thanksgiving dinner. Thanks for the good times, Cragun’s.
