The interpretive center teaches about 9,000 years of human activity in this National Historic Landmark. The park is one of the most significant archeological sites in Minnesota, with 19 sites identified. The earliest site, dating from the "Archaic" period, shows evidence of copper tool manufacture associated with the "Old Copper Tradition."

Itasca is Minnesota's oldest state park, totaling more than 32,000 acres and including more than 100 lakes. Explore Wilderness Drive past the 2,000-acre Wilderness Sanctuary, one of Minnesota's seven National Natural Landmarks.

One of MN's most popular state parks, Gooseberry Falls State Park receives nearly 1 million visitors per year.
