Free Golf, Free Fishing, Family Gathering for Veterans at Cragun’s on Gull Lake
April 2011

BRAINERD – Cragun’s Resort on Gull Lake will host their 9th annual Veterans Appreciation Event on Monday, May 30 and Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Cragun’s Resort and Legacy Golf Courses. There will also be discounted lodging for those veterans who stay over at the resort.

Veterans will receive complimentary green fees on all three Legacy Golf Courses, rated among the best in the state by Golf Digest, with only a $10 charge per person for a GPS-equipped golf cart. Friends and family, playing with veterans will receive a discounted golf rate with cart of $35 per person. Please call 218-825-2789 for golf tee times.

On Monday, May 30 and Tuesday, May 31, veterans and their families and friends who enjoy fishing can fish for free off of Cragun’s docks or using our rowboats, with or without motors. Pontoon rental is also available for $10 per hour. Please call 1-218-825-2806 for fishing reservations.

This year, Cragun’s is also inviting non-golfers or non-fisherman to come with their immediate families to join with other service families to socialize in the Legacy Clubhouse. There will be no speeches or program, just a casual gathering for the families who have served our country and to meet new friends and old. There will be complimentary coffee, cookies, and sweets, served from 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m., in a special area of the Clubhouse set aside for Veterans and families to get together. The Legacy Bar & Grille will also be open for meals and beverages.

“We’re pleased to show our support for our military services,” said resort owner Dutch Cragun. “As a veteran of the Korean War myself, I know how important it is to be recognized for serving our country. Now that we are at war again, the sacrifices of military families should not go unnoticed. That’s why our annual Veterans Appreciation Programs have expanded to include those dedicated family members left behind.”

Cragun said all veterans, from World War II onward are invited. Cragun’s especially wants veterans returning from Iraq, Afghanistan and other recent assignments to know they and their families are welcome for the appreciation weekend.

Any U.S. military veteran can also take advantage of Cragun’s Veterans Appreciation Package. This offer entitles all veterans to a 15% lodging discount off Cragun’s “rack rate” for any Sunday-Thursday night stay. To receive this discount, veterans must call and ask for the room block especially reserved for veterans.

Last year, Cragun’s was pleased to host over 300 golfing and fishing veterans who enjoyed the camaraderie and meeting others who have given years of their lives in service to America.
