1. Catch of our Lives

Getting married outside in front of Gull Lake on Cragun’s property.  Having to run and hide in the bathroom when all of our guest had to come in from the storm that came through a few minutes before I was going to walk down the aisle.

2. Snack Please
This picture is of my four year old niece.  My parents brought our whole family (10 of us) to Cragun’s for the first time last year.  We had a fantastic time fishing, boating, swimming, and participating in all of the family and kids activities offered.  We spent several afternoons playing, swimming, and having lunch at the pool.  The kids loved going up to order food from the snack bar at the pool.  My niece is the youngest, and she wanted to be just like the big kids and get ice cream BY HERSELF.  It took a while for someone to notice her, but she finally got her snack!

3. Fun Time Relaxing
My husband and I went there one summer after a long exhausting year of trying to extend our family with no success. It was just what we both needed to forget about the everyday drama and RELAX!!! Such a fun time and very blessed we had the chance to go back then. I hope to get back there, but finances are tight. We now have a very busy 3 year old boy 🙂 who would just love this place, we wouldn’t be able to get him inside. Thank you!

4. Best Time Shared Together
I was twelve years old, dedicating the majority of my summer to training for the upcoming hockey season, at Minnesota Hockey Camps, in Nisswa. My family lived in rural Southwest Montana at the time and decided to drive to Brainerd, for the dual purposes of visiting me and taking a long overdue family vacation. That was the first summer any of us had been to Minnesota and none of us could have known the repercussions that would follow our time there.

My family planned on spending four days in Brainerd. Instead they ended up spending eleven days at Cragun’s soaking up the sun, relaxing in the water, and walking the gorgeous golf courses. I snuck away from camp two weekends in a row, to share in their enjoyment and recharge from the taxing training.

To say that we were swept away with Cragun’s would be an understatement. That part of the world in the middle of summer is something that can only be experienced, not properly articulated by words or accurately depicted with a photograph. We were caught up in the majesty of the place, the best time we had shared together in far too long. The unanimous vote, those memories would not be quick to fade, for any of us.

The resort left such a lasting impression that less than twelve months later we packed up our life and moved to Minnesota. Four wonderful Minnesota summers were shared together here, enjoying similar experiences to our Cragun’s adventure. Unfortunate employment circumstances required my family to move again; however, when they did I stayed in the state of 10,000 lakes to play Juniors and subsequently go to college, as it had become my home.

Our time at Cragun’s brought us closer together as a family and taught us to appreciate the beauty of this great state. It opened our eyes to the tranquility of the Midwest and inked a mark in our memories. It was the experience we needed at the time when we needed it, it was perfect.

I am now going on thirteen years of calling this great state home, and about two months ago I asked a lifelong Minnesota girl to be my wife. I could not feel more blessed to have found her. I know that our future together in Minnesota is not a product of my own doing, but rather good fortune from following my heart. It definitely looks like there are more family vacations to Cragun’s in our future.
