1. Just Playing With Our Kids
Time moves so quickly around our home. It was great to get away and just play with our kids! We were able to “unplug” and have some great “down time” with our little ones. Love the array of activities there for families to do! Looking forward to doing this again!

2. Making New Friends
We were already “wow-ed” by the friendly service at the marina and the incredible “welcome meal” on the first night of our first Cragun’s vacation this July when we decided to take a quick family walk down to the beach. Dale (5) and Lolita (3) immediately ran splashing into the water enjoying the sand (we’re used to beaches with rock and weeds) while mom and I struck up a conversation with a couple whose kids were now playing with ours. It didn’t take long before we had made the connection that all four of us were teachers, so we had a lot in common for conversation. Inevitably, Paul asked me “so where do you teach, Dan?” When I told him that I teach at the high school down in Marshall, he excitedly replied, “WAIT. You teach in Marshall? I teach at Hill-Murray! Do you know Brian Engels!?!?” By incredible coincidence, one of his close colleagues and friends had been a fellow teacher and close friend on my faculty in Marshall for 8 years before leaving for Hill-Murray a couple years prior where he had become very good friends with the family we met on the beach our first night at Cragun’s! We ended up spending a lot of time with them over our stay as our children became friends and looked forward to playing together at the beach, in the pools, and on boat rides around the bay. Although the chance meeting was a coincidence, we repeatedly discussed the fact that the family oriented atmosphere of the resort fostered a relaxing vacation where it was possible, even easy, to make new friends and enjoy fun conversations with other people in the dining room, at the beach, or on the docks. What a wonderful atmosphere to for a relaxing family get-away!

Breathtaking views and friendly staff are just a few of the many things that make Cragun’s on Gull Lake amazing!!

4. One Last Hurrah
When I was a kid, the end of summer meant a vacation at Cragun’s with my family – one last hurrah before going back to school. Canoeing, playing tennis, going swimming, watching my brother fish and then attempt to filet the fish in the fish house…and one year I went through rolls and rolls of 35mm film taking pictures of a cute duck family that I’m sure was happy to send me back home after invading their privacy for a week! We still laugh about those pictures 25 years later!
