2. Puff the Magic Dragon
I have so many memories of vacationing at Cragun’s over the years I can’t pick just one. We stayed at Cragun’s every year for at least 10 years when I was growing up, always over the 4th of July week. From the Hungry Gull, to fishing, to fireworks, to swimming, to the kids’ programs, I have some of the best memories of all! The Welcome dinner were always so much fun. My dad would always request the person playing music to play Puff the Magic Dragon, which was our song. We stayed in many different cabins and rooms and they were all so great. My dad and I always went fishing and would have walleye for dinner in the cabin. I can’t pick just one memory to write about. But now, having my own children, I hope to continue the tradition at Cragun’s and create some of the long lasting memories that I have for them as well.

3. Trusty Old Zebco
I have only been to Cragun’s one time in my life. As the youngest of 7 kids, my parents couldn’t afford much, but they did afford a trip to Cragun’s when I was 10 years old.
My Dad and my older brothers would do most of the fishing. I got left behind with the girls because I fidgeted and complained while on the boat. However, the last day before we left, my Dad and my oldest brother decided to bring me fishing, and we create a memory we will never forget.
I had an OLD Zebco rod, the thing almost fell apart holding it. My Dad loaded me up with a leech, and I did what I was taught: Drop the line to the bottom and when you get slack in the line, reel up 2-3 feet. After about 10 minutes of letting the line sit, I wanted to re-cast. I started to reel up. MY POLE BENT IN HALF. I was sure it was a snag, but then my line started to dance. We couldn’t move it! My Dad yelled: “It’s a DAM turtle!” (He was certain the bottom of the lake was filled with them). After 30 minutes of the great fight, those shiny eyes surfaced (and of course he dove again!). End result: My best walleye ever, a thick 7 pounder! This was my best fishing memory ever, thanks to my Dad, my trusty old Zebco, and Cragun’s Resort!

4. Fun On The Beach
We went to Cragun’s to enjoy the MN Spring Ride Wakeboarding event. It was so fun to be on the beach on a beautiful sunny day (really first so far this year). Hearing music and participating in beach games was fun while watching the wakeboarders. The cabins on the beach are wonderful and having a bonfire right outside your front cabin door is great — especially to keep getting s’more supplies!
