The 15th golf course on our quest to play the top 23 was Dutch’s Legacy, designed by Robert Trent Jones for Dutch Cragun at Cragun’s Resort in Brainerd, Minnesota. It was one of my favorites so far, because it was so beautifully sculpted out of the marshes and the woods. I loved Gull Lake which surrounded it, plus the Audubon areas of natural landscapes. It was a treat to play it and to photograph it!!
On a beautiful par-3 on a spectacular course on a gorgeous day!
The entry touts their “5-Star” rating, which is why we wanted to play it!
Larry teeing off on another pretty par-3
Wooden trails led through the marshlands full of cattails and lilies
The light through the tree line made me want this shot
Their par-3’s had lots of character and challenges!
The final shot was over the marshes on this pretty par-5 hole
Larry putting out on this par-4 with a pond in front of the green. He shot an 88 and I had a 91 – not bad for us on a difficult course that we’d never played before!
