Thanksgiving is a time for family, friends and reflection on all the things we’re thankful for in life. Enjoy the time you have with your loved ones by getting away for the long holiday weekend.
As a premier resort destination for more than 75 years, Cragun’s Resort can be your Thanksgiving getaway destination. Below are just a few of the reason why:
1. Stress-free family fun.
No cooking, no cleaning, no stress. You can tailor the perfect Thanksgiving getaway for you and your family. Jump into Cragun’s huge indoor swimming pool, soak in the hot tub, sweat out your cares in the sauna or enjoy pool, ping pong and other fun games all located near the indoor pool. Also located poolside is the Cabana Café which offers light breakfast, lunch and dinner fare as well as specialty coffees and cocktails. Pull up a chair, sit back and enjoy the fun.
2. Delicious Thanksgiving fare without all the work.
Begin your Thanksgiving Day with a Continental Breakfast and then enjoy the Harvest Buffet Dinner beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the main dining room. Both meals are included with your Thanksgiving Package. Your package also includes our hot breakfast buffet on Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning. Cragun’s traditional Thanksgiving Buffet features a salad bar, homemade bread, roast turkey with dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, fall vegetables, plus other entrees and a delicious dessert table with coffee service.
3. Cragun’s has planned recreation activities throughout the holiday weekend.
The weekend will include activities like Bingo, horse drawn trolley rides, Vacation Creations, a “float-in” at the pool, photo scavenger hunt, bean bag tournaments, bounce houses in the Sports Centre, Hungry Human Hippos, and evening Karaoke in the Bear Trap Lounge. Check our activity calendar for the dates and times of all planned activities.
4. More recreation opportunities in the surrounding area, including the Sertoma Winter Wonderland.
The Sertoma Winter Wonderland opens for the season on Thanksgiving Day and features a fantastic light show at the Arboretum in Brainerd. Mt. Ski Gull also opens around Thanksgiving and offers tubing, downhill skiing and snowboarding. Cragun’s offers discounted lift tickets to Mt. Ski Gull for their guests.
Or, if you’re looking to keep a “Black Friday” shopping tradition, Brainerd, Nisswa, Pequot and Crosslake all offer unique holiday shopping opportunities.
5. Nisswa City of Lights Festival.
(The videography in this clip was posted by Brainerd Dispatch and provided by Jason Walkowiak of Baxter, MN.)
The popular Nisswa City of Lights event kicks off the holiday season on the Friday after Thanksgiving with a variety of activities and entertainment that’s fun for the whole family. The downtown area lights up all at once at 5:30 p.m., with holiday lights adorning trees and fences, stores and other buildings. Festivities for the annual event begin in the afternoon with horse-drawn wagon rides, live reindeer, storytelling, food merchants, bonfires, hot cider and donut holes at the Pioneer Village and holiday carolers. After the countdown to turning on all the lights, Santa Claus makes an appearance and fireworks shoot up over town at 7:30 p.m.
6. This one’s worth repeating: Stress free family fun!
Snuggle up in front of a roaring lakeside bonfire or enjoy your own fireplace in the privacy of your room. Most of our lodge rooms and cabins have either wood burning or gas fireplaces. Play some games, cook some s’mores, read a book and enjoy this time away together as a family.
We’d love to be your Thanksgiving getaway destination. Our Thanksgiving weekend package includes 4 days and 3 nights of relaxation and fun for just $450 plus tax.
